Shambala'ed....

My God.
Went to Shambala festival near Plymouth last weekend to celebrate my birthday and it was the maddest thing on this earth. There was fun, there was laughter, there men with the heads of animals and ghettoblasters disguised as coffins. Saturday night had a giant fancy dress party of pirates and fairies and men in drag, there was a strange ultra violet forest maze in which I lost my sanity but found a moth-like attraction for bright things and humming noises, and there was an ewok village. Actually thirty, forty feet up in the trees there were heaps of wasted people dangling off nets and rope ladders, yelling to people below to throw them beer and, on more than one occasion, leaning out to far and falling a fairly scary distance to the floor below, only to laugh, get up and start climbing again. Screw health and safety, everyone was so hammered they just bounced.
And my friend set his face on fire. He was ok, just a little singed, but seeing the straw mask of someone dressed as The Scarecrow go up in flames is not what you need to see at four o clock in the morning.

In conclusion, you MUST all come next year.

In other news, moving into a new house in a month or so with some mates, still working this hellish job, still typing inappropriate things about this hellish job whilst on the work computers. Have put learning to skate temporarily on hold in favour of learning to surf, the pain of falling into water presumably less than the pain of falling onto concrete.

I'm considering attempting to compile a thesarus of phrases. A book containing everyday phrases from the english language such as "what goes around comes around" and things like that, accompanied by their equivalents from other languages and cultures, with notes where available on their origins. For no other reason than that I think it would be really cool. What do people think? I need a project...

Unfortunately, Suzie, my friend, such a book already exists. 'Hue, Cry and Humble Pie'. Pick it up from your bookshop today.

Surfing is cool. No. In fact, it's cold. Especially in Devon.

Kinda like that, but I was thinking more of something you could use to see where similar notions and ideas had developed independantly of each other in other cultures. Oh, alright, I was drunk at the time...
